US$ woes a booster for Asian bourses

FRESH weakness in the greenback gave a spur to regional bourses yesterday as big funds, which have borrowed in the ailing dollar, kept up their strategy of buying Asian blue chip stocks.
In Singapore, the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) closed a tad below the 2,800 level, gaining 36.34 points to end at a 15-month high of 2,797.88.

S’pore won’t take slow road to avoid the bumps

(SINGAPORE) Go for higher growth and develop ‘real depths of capabilities’ in seven or eight areas. That, in a nutshell, is an economic strategy Finance Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam sees for Singapore in the face of growing volatility.

FOMC Meeting and BoE Inflation Report Take Centre Stage

After last week’s European central bank announcements, attention turns to Wednesday’s US FOMC meeting.
