Reuters – The German government has seen encouraging signals in recent days in negotiations to take over Opel and has “positive expectations” for talks this week, a government spokesman said on Monday.

MONTHLY home gas prices will increase by about $1 from tomorrow.

This is because of the rise in the cost of high sulphur fuel oil, to which the cost of gas production is pegged, said gas producer City Gas yesterday.

Gas tariffs for households will go up 7.5 per cent, from 15.14 cents per kwh to 16.28 cents per kwh.

DEMAND for new private property developments remains strong, judging by the interest generated at two previews held over the weekend.
