Indifferent session after recent rally
HONG Kong’s weakness probably played a pivotal role in yesterday’s 5.36-point loss in the Straits Times Index to 2,913.94, although just as important was the fact that the index had already shot up by 130 points since closing at 2,790 on March 5. Rally may herald economic upswing
COMMODITY markets have had a pretty good run so far – gold hit a record US$1,070.40 per ounce over a week ago, while oil crossed US$80 a barrel last Wednesday.
Similar rallies were also seen in silver and the industrial metal copper.
