Both sides called trading halt as Reit row escalates

Author: THE war of the Reits between MacarthurCook Industrial (MI-Reit) in one corner and Cambridge Industrial Trust (CIT) in the other hit a new level yesterday when both firms called trading halts to make announcements.
Their simmering row has mostly been confined to full-page newspaper advertisements but it has intensified in the run-up to Monday’s key meeting to vote on MI-Reit’s financing plans.

Results for two Reits paint different scenarios
TWO real estate investment trusts (Reits) – CapitaRetail China Trust (CRCT) and Ascott Residence Trust (ART) – posted sharply differing second-quarter results yesterday.
ART’s distributable income lost 17 per cent to $11 million while CRCT’s gained 14.2 per cent to $12 million, compared to the second quarter last year.
