Thumbs up for ending estate agents dual role
A PROPOSAL to ban property agents from representing both the seller and buyer in the same transaction has generated strong public interest – with many giving the idea the thumbs up.
This practice, widespread in the HDB resale market, leaves the agent with a clear conflict of interest.

Obama administration faults Senate bank bill

Move to ban one agent for buyer and seller under study
THE Government is contemplating a move to ban property agents from engaging in the widespread practice of representing both the seller and buyer of an HDB flat in the same transaction.
The idea is set to get the thumbs up from home buyers and sellers, but could leave some agents unhappy at a potential loss of commission income.

American, BA, Qantas eye joint offer to JAL: sources (Reuters)
Reuters – American Airlines will team up with British Airways and Qantas Airways to make a joint alliance proposal to recapitalize loss-making Japan Airlines (9205.T), two people with direct knowledge of the talks said.

Unveiling of pledged shares welcomed
THE Singapore Exchange’s (SGX) proposal to make it mandatory for controlling shareholders to disclose their pledged shares has been largely welcomed by industry watchers.
