Surprise bonus for Income customers
POLICYHOLDERS of NTUC Income can expect a surprise bonus this year to commemorate its 40th anniversary. Yesterday, its chief executive Tan Suee Chieh told The Straits Times that it is likely to do ’something special’ for its customers to mark the anniversary.

Conveyancing accounts proposed to hold clients’ funds
(SINGAPORE) The Ministry of Law is proposing that law firms set up a new type of bank account – a conveyancing account – for lawyers to hold funds entrusted to them by homebuyers and sellers.
The pilot trial of the new scheme could take place as soon as April this year, with the entire scheme taking off as early as next year, BT understands.

New insurance premiums up 39% in Q2
The Q2 figure is also some 9 per cent up from Q4 2008, said the Life Insurance Association of Singapore (LIA) yesterday.

General Growth retail net operating income falls (Reuters)
Reuters – General Growth Properties Inc , the large U.S. mall operator that filed for bankruptcy in April, on Tuesday reported a 2.1 percent decline in quarterly net operating income from its retail properties, citing weakness in the economy and falling occupancy rates.
