AIA agents much in demand – but not easy to entice
Prices of cars rise by up to $22,000
MOTOR firms have increased car prices by as much as $22,000, in anticipation of certificate of entitlement (COE) premiums going up further.
The price rises came just a day after car premiums soared by $8,000 to $14,000, which many players see as a sign of things to come.

In firefighters we trust (but not property agents)
WHO would you trust more? A fireman, or a real estate agent?
Thought so.
So did 760 Singapore residents who took part in an online poll conducted by Reader’s Digest magazine on the most trusted professionals in the country.
Conducted last October, the poll gave them two lists of 55 individuals and 40 professions and asked them to rate their trustworthiness on a scale of one to 10.

Thumbs up for ending estate agents dual role
A PROPOSAL to ban property agents from representing both the seller and buyer in the same transaction has generated strong public interest – with many giving the idea the thumbs up.
This practice, widespread in the HDB resale market, leaves the agent with a clear conflict of interest.

Clarification: Mortgage fraud story (AP)
AP – In the first paragraph of an Aug. 10 story about a mortgage fraud trial, The Associated Press reported that real estate agent Joseph Babajian was acquitted in the scheme, while two others were found guilty. The paragraph should have noted that Babajian was acquitted only of several charges.
